Quiet and calming,
Enjoy being by the sea,
In 2009, I spent a few days in Tongatapu for a mini vacation while I was temporarily based in Fiji. One of the things I remember most is how quiet and calming it is, even in the city of Nukualofa. The sea seemed to be omnipresent, and it is lovely to take a stroll along the waterfront and look out to the tiny islets in the distance, wondering what life might be like over there. I remember staying in a really dodgy Chinese-run hostel, but it didn't ruin my trip. Friends cafe is an obvious place for any visitor to go, in Nukualofa. I was also there around the time that there was some kind of celebration in honour of the King, which was great to witness. On one of the days, I took a lazy bus ride over to a beach, perhaps Ha'atafu, and let life go by without a worry in the world.
