Malta

Country #57

Archipelago,
Infusions mixed with beauty,
The South of Europe.

In 2014, my wife and I spent a long weekend in Malta, which, we realised, is a lovely and diverse country. It is clear to see the influences from a wide range of places, from Arab, to British, to Italian. This makes for quite a fascinating culture, as well as an interesting set of place names.

Valetta is an amazingly beautiful little city, full of history and incredible, historic architecture. We also spent a day bicycling around Gozo, which was loads of fun (even though it caused a couple of arguments along the way!), and there is some stunning scenery to take in. It was surprisingly cold when we were there, but that didn't take anything away from this little gem in the Mediterranean.
