Iceland

Country #58

Magical, rugged,
Full of special memories,
(And great for tourists).

In February 2015, my wife and I spent half a week in Iceland. It really is an incredible place to visit, and we're really glad that we did so when it was Winter -  the snow, the cold, the unbelievably rugged landscape - made it a really magical trip. Add on to that, the fact that I proposed to my wife when we were at the top of the Gullfoss waterfall, makes Iceland a very special place in my memory.

We had a blast visiting the Blue Lagoon, which was fairly warm inside but incredibly cold when transitioning from the water to the warmth inside. Driving through the countryside was an unforgettable experience. It was so snowy and windy that all we could see, in any direction, was white. The sky, the ground, to the side - just white. It felt like we were on a different planet.

The geysirs and Gullfoss waterfall were stunning (and again, very special), and at the end of that day, we had a delicious meal back in Reykjavik, which is a funky, tidy, and compact city.
