Country #24

History abounds,
Mediterranean fun,
And booze in the sun.

In 2006, at the end of A-Level exams, about 100 18-year-olds from my town and I headed off to celebrate the end of schooling, in Kos. What a whirlwind 2 weeks that was. It was exactly what it was supposed to be - a blur of drinking, lying on the beach, and basically being 18 and 'free'. It was fun, tiring, hot, and exciting all in good measure.

Fortunately, I also had a more sophisticated weekend in Athens, separately, with my family in 2011. The Parthenon was of course a major highlight, and we enjoyed some delicious food (particularly seafood) and wine.

Greece's recent plight is pretty sad, but I think there is so much to the country as a tourist destination, that they will always, rightly, attract visitors.
