Country #46

Winter wonderland,
With air and streets crisp and clean,

My wife and I spent a lovely long weekend in Helsinki in December 2013. It was of course freezing cold, snowy, and with plenty of gusts of icy wind, but we loved it. There was a very festive-feeling Christmas market, close by to lots of impressive Churches and old city squares.

Helsinki also has that cool vibe of other Scandinavian cities - tidy, calm, but also stylish and modern. We interspersed going out into the cold and looking around, with relaxing in our nice hotel in the warmth. We also spent a really fun day on Suomenlinna, which is definitely recommended for visitors going for a few days.
