Every sense will be amazed,
Modern and ancient.
Japan - wow. Just an incredible place to visit. My wife and I did so in 2014, for about 9 days, and we weren't disappointed. 9 days is obviously way too short to spend in Japan - there is just so much to do, so many adventures, so many sensory overloads.
Tokyo was our starting point, naturally. It has such a unique aura, with the modern, the ancient, the old and the young all fusing into one explosive experience. Next on the agenda was Kyoto and Nara, which has many of the 'traditional' Japanese things that outsiders think of as being synonymous with Japan. I'm glad we went there, as it was definitely an interesting insight into life outside of Tokyo and some of the historical and cultural features that Japan has to offer. Last on the agenda was one of the highlights of the trip - a walk through the Kiso Valley, taking the Magome-Tsumago trail. The scenery was beautiful, and it was a peaceful walk which stayed in our minds.
The food of Japan is also a massive highlight - and for me, definitely one of the best places in the world when it comes to culinary delights.
